How to make Thin Taskbar [for VISTA]
1, Open aero.msstyles with Resource Hacker.

2, Select VARIANT>NORMAL>1033 in left pane.
then click 'Action>Save Resource as a binary file...' on the main menu.
Save the filename as 'NORMAL.VARIANT'.

3, Open 'NORMAL.VARIANT' with Hex Editor.
Address 0x017728 overwrite 04 to 00.
0x01772c overwrite 04 to 00.
0x027b80 overwrite 04 to 00.
0x027b84 overwrite 04 to 00.
0x027cf0 overwrite 04 to 00.
0x027cf4 overwrite 04 to 00.
0x028f60 overwrite 04 to 00.
0x028f64 overwrite 04 to 00.
0x0290d0 overwrite 04 to 00.
0x0290d4 overwrite 04 to 00.
Save and close Hex Editor.

4, Back to Resource Hacker.
Select VARIANT>NORMAL>1033 again.
And right click on it.
Choose 'Replace Resources...' in context menu.
Click 'Open file with new resource' and select 'NORMAL.VARIANT'.
'Resource Type' put VARIANT.
'Resource Name' put NORMAL.
And click 'replace' button.

5, 'File>Save' on the main menu.
And close Resource Hacker.

Works fine but...

on every reboot the Taskbar has double high..
When i install your basic theme it's ok. Any idea, what i have made wrong?

I can take your basic theme, but i don't like the top-colour of the background-windows and i can't find the place to alter it.

your work is fantastic as always .
i have some questions and i know that you know some answers because you have done somethings i and many other want to learn, on your bister theme, like having mac like down window frame[enablig transparency on variant?).
because some people have different lines on variant it is good having some screenshots as you did before to your tiny hexer lines.PLEASE READ my questions of my topic [link] and see my gallery [link]
